THE POPE AND MALTA. ROME, A lay 11
The Vatican’s objection to the Malta Constitutional Party is understood to extend only so far as the party is Lord Strickland’s instrument. The Pope is not concerned about politics, but has a deep regard for the Church-& interests, which it is felt are menaced by the Premier’s policy affecting ageold religious customs which he desires to modernise and formalise.
MOSLEM FESTIVAL. DELHI, May 11
The Moslem festival passed off peacefully in all parts of India yesterday. There was little minor hooliganism at Sholapur which tends to show, how little the Moslems were affected by Gandhi’s second agitation.
