Donald Grant has been replaced by by F. Miller, as one of the Labour candidates for the City Council elections.

QUEENSLAND FLOODS

CAUSE GREAT DAMAGE,

Heavy damage was caused in the South Coast districts during the weekend by torrential rains which flooded watercourses, sweeping away several bridges, flooding farms and causing landslides. At Bald Knob thirteen inches fell in twenty-four hours. The great l orthern road is impassable, the river being seven feet ■ over the banks' at Mooloolali.

Obi valley is flooded and bridges over Obi river have been swept away. The water there is the highest for thirty years. Telephone posts and fencing have been washed away. A cloudburst at Sandy creek caused much damage to crops and business premises.
