In reply to criticism of the Government for delay in giving information ns to the report of the Royal Commission on Economic Pension's,- Hon Mr Cbhbe, the Minister of Defen p, states that in the fjrst place, the report vvas held up pending his return from Samoa, where he represented the Government during, the negotiatiohs with th 6 Mau. When he. (the Minister) perused the' document on his return, it was decided that, as the recommendations wore- of importance, md would involve-, if carried o<ut in heir entirety,-a large increase in expenditure, it should be ‘considered by

the'Pensions’ Department and the Repatriation Branch of the State Advances Department. The report has ow been received'back from those delartments, which have attached their pihiotis, and last ; ' weed it was presented to tlie Gdvernor-General ; for •is signature.'
