U.S.A. FILM FIRMS

TO PRODUCE IN EUROPE

[United Presß Association—By Electric Telegraph .—Copyright. ]

LONDON, April 29

Eight millions sterling will be spent by American film companies on film productions in England dui’ing the coming year, in addition to three millions which they will spend in France and Germany. The chief reason for this expenditure is the necessity for finding an outlet for the immense profits of the Paramount film organisation, which totalled twelve millions sterling for the year 1929.

The American film interests are also convinced that talkies in the European language must be made in Europe, and the British quota lawmakes it probable that the English production of films will be a profitable one, despite the serious blow it will mean to Hollywood.
