LONDON, April 30.
The "Daily Telegraph’s” diplomatic correspondent says : —The Government is now considering Singapore from the viewpoint of a depot for airships and seaplanes in the scheme of inter-im-perial communications.
INDIAN PAPERS
REFUSE TO PAY GUARANTEES
DELHI, April 29
The Government has promulgated an ordinance requiring certain extremist newspapers to furnish a security deposit as a pledge of good behaviour and of abstention from printing seditious matter.
The Delhi papers refuse to comply with this. They declare that they are p -opared to cease publication if the Government takes decisive action.
NEW ZEALAND LOAN
LONDON, April 30.
The “Daily Telegraph's” financial correspondent states 5! million. New Zealand fives inscribed stock for 1949 is being underwritten at £99. Part is required to meet a short term maturing debt. New Zealand is always a .popular borrower on London. While the depression of the pastoral industry has affected exchange, the high standing of New Zealand credit is evidenced by the quotations of its outstanding loans.
