DISPUTE OVER DUTY

AUCKLAND, April 29
The Union Coy’s cargo steamer “Ramona” was delayed at Auckland for sixteen hours tcLday; owing to trouble with the’brew. The vessel unloaded a coal cargo from Greymouth on Monday, and’ she was .to have sailed on her return trip to Greymouth a.) midnight on. Monday. The cargo had been discharged by means of grabs and some of the coal had fallen out of the grabs on to tindock, as well as . upon the forecastle
i4 cad and the windlass; At sailing time on A Lon day night Hite members of the crew were requestd to clear' a vav the coal from the deck and from the forecastle head, but they refused, stating that this work, should have been done by the waterside workers who had discharged the yessel. Ihe men also refused to take the vessel to sea until the work was done, so that her departure was postponed until this morning, when there, ’was. a recurrence of trouble, the crew again clear the loose coal oil the decks. Ihe work eventually had to he done b\ shore labourers. It was this afternoon before the trouble was finally settled and the Ramona sailed shortly after four o’clock.
