An Agricultural Bureau Conference, at West Maitland, lias resolved to urge the N.S.W. Government to impound, the Avaters of the Upper Hunter River to facilitate irrigation.

No offers have been receded by the Federal Government nor lias any consideration been given to the matter, said the Prime Minister, Mr J. H. Scullin, when questioned regarding the cable from London that a spectacular proposal has been made by an AngloAustralian financial group, associated Avith poAverful United States interests, whereby a twenty millions sterling fund Avon Id be established to rehabilitate Australian overseas finances and bring the exchange rate back to normal.
The Prime Minister added that Australia Avould approach the oversea money market as soon as an opportunity presented itself.

The Government parties have endorsed a proposal for a tax on Avnges and salaries, so as to provide work for the unemployed. Tbo amount of the tax probably will be twopence per pound Avoekly.
