The Judical Committee of the Privy Council, having heard an appeal from the decision of the Supreme Court of the Irish Free State, the Lord Chanel lor, in dealing Avitli the constitutional question as to Avhether the Privy Council Committee had jurisdiction to hear the appeal, said that their Lordships ivere of the opinion that this had been decided in the words ‘His Majesty in Council used in the Irish Free State itself. They could not think that the Avords “His Majesty in Council” used in the Irish Free State Constitution and in both of the Acts of Parliament thereto scheduled meant anything other than the Privy Council.
The question hoav arises as to Avhether the Free State Avill carry out a threat made by the Irish Minister of Finance to make any Privy Council decision reversing an Irish Court judgment ineffective.
