The Ceylon eleven in which there are two Europeans did well and dismissed Australia, for 233, Eklaart, an accurate slow bowler, taking G tor 65. Ponsford scored a vigorous 62, Bradman 40, Woodfull 54. Ceylon bad lost 1 for 52, when rain interfered with play. The heat was oppressive.
