The return of Customs duties for the quarter ended 31.st December, 1929 shows that the total revenue amounted to £2,303,894 compared with £2,090,041) for the corresponding quarter of 1928. The grand total for tlm ra lander year ended 31st December, 1929, amounted to £8,582,392, compared with £7,048.747 for the year ended December, 1928.
The excise duties for the quarter ended December, 1929, totalled £•201,208, compared with £223,554 for the corresponding quarer of the previous year. The excise duties for the year ended December, 1929, totalled £888,582, compared with £810,179 in the previous year.
Customs revenue in the December quarter of 1929 was collected as follows, the figures for the corresponding period of the previous year being given in parentheses: General tariff Cl .339,405 fl .359,025); British preferential tariff £730,980 (022,992); primage £233,593 (108,432).
