AUCKLAND RETAINS CORNWKLI CUP.

DUNEDIN, February 20

The Cornwell Cup sailing contest was concluded to-day in excellent sailing conditions. In the morning race. Wellington after a good exhibition of sailing, won from Manukau by 3 min. 31 sees. Lyttelton was third, followed by Otago, Auckland and Canterbury. The wind was a light south eastcr, hacking to east, and the Auck-1-nd crew did not appear to he at home in tho variable conditions ruling. The race in the afternoon, which was sailed over a triangular course of about nine miles, in a strong northeast breeze, was won decisively hv Auckland, who thus retain possession of the trophy. Lvttejton was six minutes 14 seconds behind the winner in second place, followed bv Manukau and Christchurch. Otago and Wellington retired during the race.
