Further heavy" rains caused dislocation of the railway services and’ the flooding of many rivers in the coastal areas. There is much damage to property, also danger to life, People have evacuated their homes in the lower sections of some towns. The wharves at Innisfail on the Johnstone river, are submerged. The railway traffic bridge over the Herbert-river at Cardwell, had thirteen feet of water above the rail. There were torrential downpours between Townsville and Cairns. Twenty ifour hours registration at Babinda was 8.95 points: Mossman 6.24 points. Port Douglas 6.11. Up four inches also fell in some parts of the Peninsula district.
