AUSTRALIA’S INDUSTRY
SIR MARK SHELDON’S WARNING. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) VANCOUVER, Jan. 31. A warning was given Canada to-day by Sir Mark Sheldon, of Australia, when addressing the Canadian. Club, against the establishment of a Labour Arbitration Court similar to Australia’s. “ Meet Labour at a round table, but don’t bring in a third party,” he declared. He said that one of the most unfortunate features of arbitration was that it brought the employers and the employees before a board as litigants, making it difficult to enforce the ruling of the arbitrator over great masses of men. Sir Mark Sheldon expressed the opinion that Australia would solve its difficulties. He believed that one of the most potent factors in bringing about the settlement of Australia’s insistent labour troubles would be .a recognition by the Australians that they could not remain independent of the rest of the wond.
