NOTED MAN’S DEATH. B Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright AUCKLAND, Jan. 30. Norman E. Burton, a noted journalist and even more widely known throughout New Zealand for the notable service he has rendered to Anglican churches in New Zealand, died at his residence. 150 Great South Road, after a lingering illness, aged 62. He is survived by a widow, four brothers and threp sisters. MAN DROWNED. GISBORNE, Jan. 30. E. J. Rampton, 26, single, an exchange clerk in the Tokomaru Bay Post Office was drowned on the beach at Tokomaru Bay this morning. Deceased was swept out to sea by the backwash while bathing. His companion attempted a rescue but was compelled to relinquish his hold owing to the swift current, and was helped from the water in an exhausted condition.
