Many parts of northern western Queensland that have been dry for years are now inland seas and in some parts train passengers have been marooned in railway carriages for a fortnight. There is now a complete stoppage of railway services in the north and west. Approximately a thousand passengers are stranded at different parts. Supplies of foodstuffs at Mt.
