AUTOGIRO PLANE
A SPANIARD’S INVENTION. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, January 8. Sir Sefton Brancker, the Director of Civil Aviation, who has taken up the Spanish inventor, Senor De la Cierva’s autogiro, which is the so-called “windmill” plane, declares that the machine is the easiest thing to handle and that it gave him an extraordinary feeling of confidence. He was convinced that the giroplane had a great future, especially for taking out people from large cities.
The machine is capable of taking off or landing within thirty yards. Sir S. Brancker said that it .was a weid sight to watch the aufogjrido descending almost vertically undej perfect control. The moths which were flying around at the time appeared to he quite large in comparison to the compactness of the Spaniard’s plane.
