ON THE CONFERENCE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) WASHINGTON, Jan. 8. President Hoover, in bidding farewell to the American Delegation to the London Naval Conference, said: “I am sure the whole nation bids God speed to the Delegations that leaves to-morrow for London. The people and Governments of the hvc nations assembling at the meeting are sincerely desirous that an agreement shall be brought about whereby the competitive construction of naval films shall be brought to an end, and whereby an actual reduction' of the naval burdens of the world shall be accomplished. The difficulties of finding a basis acceptable to the five different nations are great, but not insuperable. The conference’s conclusions must be such as to give a sense of security and'satisfaction to each nation.” r l he President concluded by saying: “I hope the ]>eoplo of our country will co-op-erate in the -progress of the Conference by patience, encouragement and freedom from criticism. We go to London in a fine atmosphere of international goodwill, and it is our duty to our country to preserve that atmosphere so far as it lies within our power.”
