GENEROUS BEQUESTS. . CHRISTCHURCH. Jan. 9. Bequests totalling six thousand five hundred sterling were left to various charities under the will of the late Thomas Quealy, of Kaituna, farmer, including £IOOO eaic-h to Nazareth Home, Mount Magdala Homo, and Home of Conipassion (Wellington): £SOO each to Father Barr’s Boys Home (London), Lewisham Hospital and Bishop Brodie for the relief of poor in the Diocese.

LOGGER KILLED. PALMERSTON N., Jan. 9. William Green, twenty-five, whose mother lives at Kaikorai, Dunedin, was engaged in hauling logs out of the bush in Otaki Gorge yesterday, when a log slipped from the chocks and crushed Green’s head against another log. He was hospitalled, hut died last evening. AN INQUEST. WELLINGTON, Jan. 9. In returning a verdict of accidental drowning at the inquest on Crockett, whose body was recovered near the Miramar wharf after deceased h"' l boon missing since Christmas Eve. Coroner Barton said that in his opinion it was extremely probalble deceased .was blown into the water by the strong wind prevailing on the 24 th December.
