Information obtained from the Norwegian legation discloses that the Norwegia previously explored the Antarctic ice rim south of Capetown from Westnbour to 1.40 west, discovering only one new island in the region oi Grahamsland. ’Hiere were no suitable harbours and nothing useful to Norwegian whaling enterprises. Owing to the unsuitableness of Bouvert Island in which there is no harbour, it was necessary to seek new land suitable for whaling activities.
