TEMUKA FIRE STATION GUTTED

ALL EQUIPMENT DESTROYED.

TEMUKA, November 26. About 3.30 this morning the Temuka Fire Station was destroyed by fire.

The building was a very old one. having don'e service ifor about sixty yeais and at the last meeting of the council plans of a new bulding were considered. It was decided to call a meeting of ratepayers to get permission to raise a loan for the erection of a new building. All the gear and equipment were destroyed, and the firemen were very much hampered in their efforts to quell the outbreak. The meeting room, which formed part of the building, contained many old photographs and relics collected during the past sixty years, and in this respect the brigade are heavy losers. It is understood that the brigade held their weekly meeting in the hall on Monday evening, and when the men left the building everything appeared to be in order. As the secretary, Mr D.
