BRADMAN BRILLIANT
(Australian Press Association)
SYDNEY, Nov. 22
The weather to-dav was fine for the cricket match between the M.C.C. team and New South Wales.
The English wicketkeeper, Cornford, was unable to play, and Benson arrived in time from Melbourne \i replace him. The wicket was in tne best condition.
The English team consisted of G:l----ligan, Dawson, Turnbull, Legge, Duleepsiiihji. Bowlev, Woolley, Worthington, A Horn Barratt and Benson. After having put 453 runs 0" the scoring hoard, and having still five wickets in hand, New South Wales set the Marylebone team a solid task.
The weather was glorious and the wicket perfect. Bradman treated the 10,375 spectators present to a brilliant exhibition of scoring, making a chanceless 157 runs in 175 minutes. Sixteen boundaries were included in his total. He attacked the bowling from the outset, and treated all alike. He scored at double the rate of his partners, Jacksou and Kippax. Jackson was never comfortable, tin 1 he succumbed to a smart catch behind the. wickets.
Kippax was more subdued than usual,,and he had several lives. After tea however, he and Marks treated the tired bowlers with scant respect. Kippax signified his century with two beautiful fours. He was then i aught in the outfield by Dawson, Allsopp, who was not out 4", is playing in his first big game, and he proved himself a, fine cricketer. The howling of the visitors was never impressive, and the fielding was very lax, Duleepsinliji being a brilliant exception. Following are the scores:— NEW SOUTH WALES—Ist Tuning-;. Fairfax, l.b.w. b Allom : 14 Jackson, c Benson, b Allom ... 49 Bradman, b' Worthington 157 Kippax, c Dawson, b Bowley ... 198 Marks, c and b Bowley Allsopp (not out) 47 McCabe, (not out) 16 Extras / Total for five wickets 453
