SHORT WOOL
MANUFACTURERS OBJECT

LONDON, November 5
There is some mystification in wool circles as to why Professor A. F. Barker advised the South African growers to shear their sheep twice, or four times yearly, instead of growing eight inch fibre, thus ensuring an equality of staple to meet manufacturing needs. Sir .T. Viccars points out that Bradford could not handle one inch or two inch staple, which would appeal only to the .Roubaix or to Toureoing (Continental) makers in any case, such an idea was wholly inapplicable to Australia or New Zealand, where, if the shearers had to be paid for two or three shearings yearly, nothing would be left for the grower.
