The second Supporting Party, after passing a badlv-crevasscd area acioss the trail, reached their destination ldst night, at 81 degrees 45 south latitude, and have . already begun their homeward journey. A depot was laid down at the point where they turned back. It is the; half way depot to the mountains, and depots beyond it will he laid by the Geological Party, which will leave the base camp in a few days. Altogether the Supporting Party traversed two hundred miles, established four supply depots fifty miles apart,- and marked the trail with flags for the 'Geological Party. Doctor Laurence Gould’s Scientific Party will press another two hundred miles to the mountains, where an extensive slavery will be undertaken - to solve, im-portant-problems. ol Antarctic terrain. The Supporting Party started on October 15th’ with three teams of nine dogs each, which hauled six laden sleds.
