As the result of very favourable sowing conditions, New South Wales wheat harvest is expected to be much better than earlier forecasts indicated.
The Department of Agriculture estimates the total will be thirty-two ancl a-half million bushels. There will probably be an exportable surplus of thirteen to fourteen million bushels.
TWO CHILDREN DROWNED,
LAUNCESTON, Nov. 5,
Florence Powell, aged 15, and Jack Keating, aged 13, were drowned and many other children narrowly escaped when a raft overturned on the river at Perth picnic grounds. Baptist Sunday School children were taking rides on the raft but too many crowded at one end and caused it to upset. Some were able to reach the snore and others were rescued by their parents. The boy and girl, however, were pinned beneath and their bodies were not recovered for half an hour.
DEAN OF PERTH. PERTH, Nov. 2. Archdeacon R. H. Moore, of Northern, has been appointed Dean of Perth. Archbishop Riley had acted as Dean until his death last June.
