Mr Blakely (Minister for Home Affairs) referring to the report that a troup of girls from Australia or New Zealand contemplated engagement as dancers to a town in the Far East, warns young women to be extremely careful before accepting the offers. The conditions under which they have to perform, he stated, were frequently' undesirable and the salaries were insufficient to meet expenses.
T.B. SCOURGE. (Received this day at 10 a.m.) CANBERRA, Nov. 4. Air Anteley (Minister of Health) proposes to intensify the fight against tuberculosis and co-operate as far as possible with the States in the effort to combat the scourge.
TWO MEN KILLED. BRISBANE, November 4. Two actors, Arthur AldricTge and Kyrle McCalister, were killed in, a motor smash near Wynnum. The car was found overturned and the men lying dead on the roadway. A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. HOBART, November 4. Sixteen of twenty-five miners were seriously injured at Lyell on'the West Coast when a truck overturned and a number of men were pinned beneath the wreckage. Three are in a critical condition.
