DUNEDIN !SENTENCES.

DUNEDIN, Nov. 2,
John Francis O’Keefe, for breaking and entering, was to-day, sentenced to five years’ imprisonment. During the past 28 years, the prisoner’s record has been one of continual crime. On a previous occasion he received five years, and had been declared an habitual criminal.
“Thank you,’’ muttered the prisoner on hearing the sentence, ‘I thought you would have given me 20 years.” Frederick Leslie Black, 18, was ordered two venrs at Borstal.
Cyril Adams, 23, was ordered two years’ reformative detention for breaking and entering a shop, and stealing goods, valued at £6o.
AUCKLAND SENTENCES. AUCKLAND, Nov. 2, The following prisoners were senenced at the Supreme Court:— Alfred Carter, for indecent assault on a boy, three years reformative treatment. David Barry, aged eighteen, for forgery of a mate’s name to a bank book, three years’ probation with an order for restitution. NOT GUILTY. WELLINGTON, Nov. 2. On a charge of indecent assault. Harold Mather and Walter Daviu Robinson were acquitted. SUPREME COURT SENTENCES. WELLINGTON, November 4. Prisoners sentenced in the Supreme Court were : Leslie Gordon I rasei, aged 19, unlawful carnal knowledge, two charges, twelve months’ reformative. His Honour directed the Probation Officer to bring the matter of the actual period to be served specially before the Prisons Board, also to refer the case to the authorities so that 'the Minsiter might, if lie thought fit, order tlie transfer of prisoner to Borstal. George Stodart, aged 24, who pleaded guilt to two charges of theft as a servant of £320 10s, the property of Inglewood Bacon Curing C'oy., twelve months reformative.
