TWENTY-FOURTH ANNUA!/ MEETING.
The twenty-fourth annual meeting of shareholders in the above Company was held at the County Chambers at 2.30 o’clock on Saturday afternoon. There was a representative attendance of .directors and shareholders, over whom IVlr I>:riii\rd Ward (Chairman of Directors) presided. The Secretary (Mr A. B. King) presented the directors’ report (already published) and the statement of accounts. These were received and adopted, complimentary remarks being passed on the highly, satisfactory position of the Company. It was mentioned that since its inception the Company had been able to provide an annual dividend of Ax per Cent to the shareholders. The amount paid out for butterfat last' season was Is 6’ f d, and a sum was held in hand for contingencies. The retiring directors, Messrs G. A. Perry, J. Bradley, and J. P. The factory manager was complimf'ted on his success lpst season, having distinguished himself by winning .the trophy .and gold medal for. the average grade in:, the South Island, and also .the,third prize for the, greatest improvement on the •previous' vear’s grading of any New .ZenbVfj] • factory. In Jalddition to a. motion of copgratulation, a mo.netaw gra.nt. was .also passed to Mr Ward Benni.tt.' . . « .. ■
Mr - Bernard Ward was re-elected Chairman of the Company, a, position he has filled with every credit since the establishment of the Company nearly at quarter of a century ago.. It was decided to pay out Is .6(1 for butter fat for the September supple. Tt was reported the prospects for the continued success of the Company were as bright as ever they had been..
Subsequent +o the annual meeting Move, I)r Teichelmann and Mr I>. >F. Evans, (representing .the Westland progress League) waited on the settlers with regard to the represntation of the district in a competitive bay at the next Christchurch Winter Show, IP3T. Both gentlemen, spoke ,in regard to the matteT, giving the details of the proposal, .and pointing put how the settlers of the Atahura ,Valley working in consort With their broth eg settlers in other parts of' Westland could help to give the district a first class advertisement. Mr ißi Ward spoke in support of the movement, find mentioned several products in which he thought, I the. settlers could assist in . making a worthy display. Mr. Perry and others also supported the proposal, and finally Messrs Ward, Havill, X). Bradley, J. PC McGnigam, Richards and «T. Bradley (with power. to add to their number) were:! appointed a .Am-.
