The Mass-erton Racing Club’s Spring Meeting was held to-day on the Upaki racecourse before a. good attendance of the public, and in fine weather. The track was hard. The tote investments were £18,73-1 against £14,024 last year. Results: — Nursery Handicap.—(4) Gesture 1, (1) Princess Betty 2, (3) Arajean 3. Won by a length; Hard two lengths away. Mr I W. TI. Ballinger, - the ’ owner, wliile in the bird cage' prior to the Lawn Handicap, was knocked down by Rotoaform, and rendered unconscious for some time. He was removed to a private, hospital in Masterton, but it is not believed that his injuries are serious.

There was fine weather and an enormou|> attendance' at theCaulfield races.: Few N.ew Zealanders were present.Gudroon ; led always in the Oby Hurdles, and won comfortably. ' It failed , badly on Wednesday. Trainer J. H. Davies also has Versatile. ' First Legion had a comfortable victory in the Nursery:. It has had two wins -and a fourth from three starts, ,-Jt cost three hundred guineas as a yearling. ' ■' ‘ '' ' ' Namera, hero of many* steeplechase battles; pas ;lhst "early' -in the - race, but finished well,,and won the Wyiina vSteeples in the last stride. ' He won the National Steeples in 1928; and was also -second and third in that race in learlier seasons.
i There was tremendous ’ interest in' the Cup. High Syce was . never further hack than seventh. He took third place, at the turn,, and won bfilliantly: " Amounis ; came, home fast, •huteAvas no fnatch fdr the whiner. Prince Vi# had every. chance, as also did Taosho. TATTERSALLS MEETING. SYDNEY, October 19. The City Tattersnlls races were hold at Randwick. There was a good attendance. Results:— Flying Handicap.—Margaret Hal 1, Gay Ballerina 2, Bonnie Marjorie 3.
