A"POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE,

MELBOURNE, Oct. 15
Expressing satisfaction at the outcome of the election, 0. Crofts (General Secretary of the Australian Council of Trade Unions) describes it as a political earthquake. He added that it was the first time in the history of Australia that an election had been fought and won purely on an industrial question. ' i l TRAINER’S DEATH. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 15. The death occurred here of J. McCombe, the New Zealand trainer, who underwent an internal operation some time ago. Tim body was embalmed and is returning to New Zealand. Negotiations on behalf of H.- R. Telford, lessee of Pharlap, for the purchase of tlie A.J.C. Derby winner’s two-year-old sister in Cameron’s stable, New Zealand, have fallen through. ....
