On Saturday afternoon the visiting ladies’ hookey team from Inangnhua winners of the Buller Association's senior competition, played a match against the Rangiora ladies’ senioi team, winners of the Canterbury As sooiation’s competition. The mate'll played at Dudley Park, attracted a considerable number of spectators, and keen interest in the play was evinced. The game was strenuously contested throughout, the play being fast and exciting. Until mid-wa> through the first spell, neither h’J( had the advantage; then came the first score, Miss Mary Meyer scoring a goal for Rangiora. This put the West Coasteivs on their mettle, and a determined series of attacks on their opponents’ goal-line resulted iri four goals being scored in quick succession, Mrs Colvin placing three to her credit and M'jss M’ El wee one. The spell ended without an alteration to the score. In the second half, inRangiora players made a game effort to recover their lost ground, and succeeded in increasing their score to three goals, one shot by ■ Miss I { red.' Sehulter and the other by Miss Nancy Horrell. They assailed their oppon cuts’ goal again and again, but tin fine defence of the' West Coaster;made their attacks futile. The ganir thus ended in favour of the Inangahua team by one goal, their wir being a well-deserved one. Mr L. S Smith was referee.
