BYRD’S START SOUTH. DELAYED BY BLIZZARDS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) BAY OF WHALES, October 13. After '.a LLzzaird which blanketed the camp in a drift all yesterday and the day before, the weather to-day shows signs of relenting. The sky is clear, and the temperature is rising. It was forty-five degrees below zero last night, but was thirty at breakfast tinnq .to-day. Only the low temperature has been delaying the start ol the dog teams southward. The severe weather would wear out the dogs quickly. Commander Byrd recalls that Amundsen, after his first start in the spring, was forced to return, and did not get away till October 19th. This spring is even colder than the year he was here.
