The; Maritime Conference here has been reduced to .the representatives of the Governments and the 1 workers’ delegates. • The Conference has decided to carry on. \
The workers express the opinion that all of the ship owners have seized upon the objection raised to the British workers’, representatives as an excuse for an attempt to torpedo the conference and to prevent the adoption of the eight-hour day. The. situation is a unique one. The ship owners say they believe that the Conference cannot now constitutionally carry on, in view of there being a Treaty provision that the Conference , must represent the Governments. the workers, the employers- ' '
Thp ship owners’ walk out of the conference is described an affront ’to the: .British . Govemmenit. the Trades Union Council, and the League of Nations Labour Office.
