SHIP LOST

(Australian Press Association) (Received this day at. 9.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 12. A radio message has been received that the Bretagne, bound for Samoa from San Francisco, was a total loss. It is assumed that the crew are safe. It is thought the mysterious S.O.S. received by the Bluff radio station was from the ‘ ill-fated vessel. There is some doubt about the ship’s identity. She may be a Danish motorship of 3D i tons or an auxiliary schooner of 1028 tons both o'f the same name.
