PARLIAMENT
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) THE HOUSE. WELLINGTON, Oct. 12. In the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon Air Holland (Buffer) withdrew his amendment that the vote for the Post Office account be reduced by two pounds as a recommendation to Government that the salaries of the Employees’ Department should be restored to the 1922 standard, Sir j. G. AVard having transmitted a message to the House that he would make a statement on the subject and give all members an opportunity.to discuss it as soon as possible after his return. The vote was passed and estimates for Prisons (£92,867) and Pensions Department (£165,360) went through without discussion. .
The House rose at 4.44 p.m. till 7.30 p.m. on Alonday.
THE COUNCIL
In the Legislative Council, the Land Laws Amendment Bill was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Lands Committee.
The Marriage Amendment Bill was passed. The debate on the second rending of the Education Amendment Bill was adjourned and the Council rose at 4.10 p.m.
