ASHBURTON FARAIERS OBJECT. (By Telegraph—Press Association). ASHBURTON. October 11. A lively discussion took place at the meeting to-day of the Alid-Can-,ter bury Executive of the Farmers’ Union over the fact that the Tasmanian farmers are scheduled to spend only a Sunday in this district. It is suggested the visitors inspect the Government Experimental Farm in the morning and motor through the country in the afternoon.. Objection was raised to trips on Sunday. A motion of protest was moved and seconded. Mr Hammond: I ‘You may as well protest against the trips to Otira on Sundays.” Air Evans: “No. This is our business. The Otira trip has nothing to do with us.” Air H. Brown: “A T ou should take this in committee. Eighty per cent of the people of Canterbury do not observe Sunday.” Voices: “Hardly that.” Air H. C. B. Wit hell said that the feelings of the visitors had not been taken into account. Air Brown: There is no other place in New Zealand where they would kick up such a fuss!” Finally, the following motion was carried: “The Executive regrets that the visit of the Tasmanian farmers is limited to Sunday only, and considers that the following Monday should have been included in the Ashburton stay'.
