SIR G. FENWICK’S ESTATE. By Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright DUNEDIN, Oct. 9. The estate of the late Sir George) Fenwick was sworn for probate as under £58,000. INCENDIARISM. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct.' 10. The Fire Brigade and police were called to the scene of a fire at the Star Stores, Ltd. grovery shop, 178 High Street, at 10 o’clock to-night. When they arrived they found that fires were burning fiercely in two separate parts of the shop. It was also found that a door leading from the yard at the rear into the store room had been broken open. It bore three sets of jemmy marks, showing how an entry was effected.
It was an obvious case of incendiarism.
Fairly extensive damage was done to the shop, property and stock, hut little damage was caused to the building.
MOTOR FATALITY. OAMARU, October 10. As the result of a car accident in Torridge Street, Harry Miller, plumber, a middle-aged, married man, with a young family, was killed this afternoon. The car overturned, crushing him. ORDERED TO QUIT. DUNEDIN, October 5. At the Police Court, William Arthur Scott, for thefft of £4l at Auckland, came up for sentence. The Magistrate said that the Probation Officer’s report showed that the accused was somewhat of a social parasite, and was not a desirable citizen to keep in this country. The accused was ordered to come up for sentence within three months on condition he made immediate restitution and left New Zealand permanently.
