BRIBERY CHARGES

AGAINST QUEENSLAND 'labourites. (Australian Press Association) BRISBANE, October 10. Considerable discussion has taken place, in the Legislative Assembly concerning the actions of prominent people interested in Mungana oil cases aud Mount Isa Silver lead field and allegations are made that pressure was brought to bear on the former Labour Ministry to build a railway to Mount Isa and for the Government purchase of Mungana oil leases at £40,000 in consideration of gifts of shares. The Minister of Railways declared in the House that a Labour member, Mr Randolph Bedford, had “ouit of the goodness of his heart given shares to certain friends, including Mr Theodore, MVP. (Deputy-Leader of the Federal Labour Party), Mr McCormack (formerly Labour Prime Minister of Queensland), and Mr Jones (ex-M.inister of Railways). It is further alleged there was a gift of shares that was worth thousands sterling.

The Premier, Mr Moore, has agreed to appoint a Royal Commission to investigate the scandals, but the inquiry will not commence until Mr McCormack returns from England.
