GAOL TRAGEDY

In Canon City. gaol riot, five murderous convicts barricaded themselves in. a cell and ended their war on society by self-destruction of four of the five. After seventeen hours siege during which (they murdered one by one off the five guards they held as hostages and callously tossed their bodies into the prison yard, stood before iheir leader and permitted him to shoot t!i?n down. The latter then executed tlie two remaining guards, after which he shot himself, causing a total of thirteen lives, of which eight victims wcio guards. • . Eight other guards who were a iso kidnapped were, released at various times by their captors.
