POLICEMAN SAVES INSANE MAN

NEW YORK, Sept. 22,

Escaping from the insane ward of the Manhattan Hospital, James Bennett, an ironworker, climbed the East River Bridge, reaching tt> a' narrow beam 130 ft. above the river. There he resisted papture. Finally, Patrolman Sacger, approaching him from behind, grappled with Bennett. He fought, for ten minutes, finally subduing Bennett with an arm lock, and lowering him with a rope. Thousands of people watched the incident.
