Nineteen thousand tons of bananas grown by, or for American companies afe now under water in a vast flooded district, covering the Coast lands in the States of Vera Cruz,-' Chiapa and Canpeche. The American railway is undermined in many places, and there are numerous mountain slides. These have been caused by torrential rain. Schools of sharks have*' gathered along the Coast, waiting to feed upon drowned, cattle from the swelling rivers. .
