The latest reports from Ventura and San Diego state that the fire areas have to-night become wide spread stretches of steam, after heavy rains, which ’have quenched the flames. The fires have done enormous damage. x San Diego, especially wilt suffer'from the devastation ef the ivater-sheds and the city probably will remain" without a- proper water supply until the trees grow again. , There are now forest fires in Oregon and Washington state. They are increasing before hot driving winds. Several wide areas are now burning.
