A FATAL SMASH
INQUEST ON VICTIMS

AUCKLAND, Sept. 16
An inquest was opened before Mr F. R.. Hunt, S.M.j into the death of Alfred Clarke, aged 36, and Mrs Aileen Parkinson, aged 27, who were killed in a motor smash on the Great South Road on Saturday night. Evidence was given by the brother-in-law of Clarke, that he was a married man with six children.
Joseph Allen Parkinson stated that he was the husband of Aileen Parkinson. They had no children. He was at.work on Saturday night and did not know his wife was out in a motor-car. He last saw her alive at 2 p.m. on Saturday. She said she was going for a walk. He did not go home to tea on Saturday. The Coroner adjourned both inquests sine die.
