AGAINST RATES AND TAXIS.

INVERCARGILL, Sept. 16,

Reserved decisions in cases heard before Mr Justice Kennedy at last session of the Supreme Court in Invercargill were delivered this afternoon. In an action in which Walter Read, Peter Abernethy and John Pagen sought an injunction restraining the Red Band Taxis (Southland) Ltd. from carrying on business in Invercargill under that name, His Honour granted an injunction, as sought, and the defendants were ordered to pay costs. In an action in which Henry Edgington and Louis Bernstone sought a declaration that certain rates levied by the Waihopai River Board were invaded, it was held that an injunction should issue to restrain the defendant from proceeding to collect the invalid Bate.
