BANK HOLD-UP
, SYDNEY ROBBERS FOILED. (Australian. Press Association) - : SYDNEY, September 5. Three masked men daringly held up the manager, and- an assistant of the Woollahra branch of the New South Wales Savings Bank this afternoon. The assistant,. Thomas Holdsgrove, dived for a revolver under the counter, and he was shot m the leg. The men then fired-at the manager, N. Everitt, the bullet grazing his am. Apparently nonplussed at the unexpected resistance of the bank staff, the.men raced away without attempting to raid. the Bank’s funds, and they escaped in a motor car, the- engine of which was left running in front of the bank. The police arrested three men and charged them with attempted robbery under arms.
