KNOCKED DOWN BY TRAIN

CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 30,
James Brown, a goods foreman at Lyttelton, was knocked down by a train this morning, his skull being severely fractured. His condition is serious. He is married and aged 47. HATER. Brown died at the hospital. ALLEGED INDECENT PICTURE DUNEDIN, Aug. 30. At the Police Court, Walter Stiglich, a stationer, pleaded not guilty to a charge of selling an indecent document and.''placing an indecent document in public view. ,• Mr Hanlon (for the defence) said the pictures referred to were of one woman in a nude state, and another draped, and were copies of pictures in a Paris salon.
Counsel submitted that another lrok which could be purchased all over New Zealand contained pictures of a similar type, yet the police had taken no action.
