PRISONERS SENTENCED

GISBORNE, August 30,
At the Supreme . Court, Henry Mackey, aged 36, was,, described by the Judge as a sexual pervert and a menace to society. He was sentenced to five years imprisonment for indecently assaulting a boy. Another prisoner, William Henry Glcye, was characterised by the Judge as a dangerous man and sentenced to four years for carnal knowledge. Frederick James Harvey was sentenced to four years, and, Hoteoe Re* hutai to five years on charges of incest.
Ani Tarapa, 23, a Maori woman with five young children, who pleaded guilty to two charges of arson, was ordered to coni© uip for sentence when j called on.
Rawiri Whareliunga and Taiera Rokai, for breaking and entering the Turn Trading Coy’s store, pleaded guilty. The former was sentenced to •three years .imprisonment and the latter to eighteen months reformative.
UNDESIRABLES SENTENCED
CHRISTCHURCH, August 30,
Three months hard labour was the sentence imposed on John Taylor McDougall, alias McDonald, aged 35, a labourer, and John Hamilton, alias Howell, alias Woodcock, 39, a labourer, who were charged in the Magistrate’s Court that on August 29th they were found without lawful excuse on enclosed premises of 2.1 Beak e v Avenue. . . , The police stated that accused liaa alarmed three women'“by peering through a window at night.
