There were ten indictments, including that of alleged conspiracy to defraud against Samuel Bates, Leslie Holland and Thomas Jns. Dowler, in connection with the alleged ringing-in of the pacer Bruce as Imperial Thorpe, ' Bates and Holland pleaded guilty, and Bowler not guilty, Tho Crown Prosecutor said there was very little evidence against Dowler, and he proposed to apply lor a stay of proceedings. His Honour agreed to this, saying it was a case in which, if it had gone to a jury, ho would have been bound to tell the jury there was no case. Holland and Bates wore remanded for sentenco.
