RACING INVASION
OF HORSES FROM N.Z,
(Australian Press Association)
(Received this, day at 9.25 a.m. ’ SYDNEY, August 16
There is a good deal of curiosity in Sydney concerning.the invasion of New Zealand horses, fifty of which are already here for the spring carnival; A 'prominent New Zealand trainer,( in 'the' cburse of an interview, stated, the principal reason was ( the high cost of racing in the Dominion, whereas Sdyney was more centralised, with courses all adjacent to the city, riding fees were cheaper and there-was alwaystlie prospect of selling a horse at a nice profit. The position was not so ; rosy in New Zealand, where-it-cost £4 ( more to take horses from Ellerslie to* Trentham and back,, than for the return trip to Sydney and Melbourne.
