KILLED BY SHOCK

MOTORIST HITS POLE

(By Telegraph—Per Press Association!

AUCKLAND, August 11

The shock of striking a centrepole while he was driving his motor car across College Hill yesterday, resulted in the death of Albert Edward Walker, aged 55 years, of Ponsonby. Apparently Walker drove out off Ward Street across; Cortege Hill. His car struck the centrepole with terrific force, and the front part of it was wrecked. The 'front axle was buckled right round the pole, and the steering wheel was forced back against the driver’s seat. Walker extricated himself, and climbed out into the road to inspect the damage. While he was standing there he suddenly collapsed unconscious, and an ambulance was called to take him to the Auckland Hospital. Although lie did not appear to have suffered any serious external injuries, lie died shortly after being admitted.
