GRAND NATIONAL WEEK SHOOTS The Grand National handicaps and the South Island championhip shoots commence on August 7th. with a £SO open pigeon match at Methven. The £IOO Grand National live pigeon handicap, which is to commence at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 9th. will be held at the North Canterbury Gun Ulub’s ground at Rangiora. The match will he fourteen birds, three misses out. The boundary is to be thirty-five yards and there are to be, five traps, automatic selector- and puller. The prizes are as follows:—First £55, second £25, third £ls, fourth £5. The South Island pigeon championship will be held under the auspices ol .he North Canterbury Gun Club on Saturday, August 10th. The'conditions will be twenty-one birds from a 28yds rise, with a 35yds boundary. The erize-money will be divided as follows: First, 60 per cent of sweep and South Island championship medal: second. 9 - e per cent, of sweep; third 15 per cent, of sweep. The South Island sparrow championship will be held on the Christchurch grounds on August 14th. and will be followed by a £3O sparrow match.
